Transforming SAP EAM User Experience with Mobile Solutions? Harness the Power of Change Management

CBH Group is Australia’s largest co-operative and operates the Western Australian grain supply chain from paddock to port. CBH recognised that our maintenance team are excellent at maintaining assets, but perhaps are not always the savviest when it comes to working with SAP. As a result, CBH has embarked on the Mobility for Maintenance journey. The maintenance team now have an easy to use mobile solution allowing them to gain access to their work management database wherever they are so that they can spend more time maintaining assets and less time entering data into SAP.

At CBH, some of the biggest challenges faced by the business are exacerbated by how geographically spread our maintenance team is – with 130 tradespeople working across the Western Australian grain belt, which is an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres, the size of Norway. Given the size of our network, we don’t always have the resources to provide sufficient training and support in using SAP resulting in inadequate data collection. With inadequate data, we don’t know what our assets truly need – both physical assets and more importantly our people. Another arguably more important challenge was to engage our people across the business to get onboard with one of the most unsettling phenomena - change. CBH’s investment into change management in the Mobility for Maintenance project was key to the project’s success.

Gain insight into how CBH delivered a mobile solution to a workforce already saturated with change. Walkthrough simple change management tools that you can implement immediately to break down the barriers of distance, connectivity, culture and capability. This session will show you the benefits of empowering the front line to make key decisions and share ideas on changes that would directly impact them – and of course how you can achieve the same results.

From this session, you will learn the following:

  • Simple tools you can use to build your change management plan
  • Real-life examples of these tools in practice
  • Tips and tricks for a successful change initiative

Build Your Own Change Management Plan - The Easy Way

“Change Management” is a term that makes people feel uncomfortable just by hearing the words. However, it is one of the most important aspects when completing any project or task. Building a positive change management culture that is easy to adhere to (and sticks) is a challenge many organisations face.

Using real life experiences as examples, you will learn the importance of change management and tips to encourage change management culture within your organisation. It is important to focus on change management as a part of culture rather than a once off activity – and most importantly, remove the stigma that it is an almost impossible or exceedingly hard endeavour. By breaking down the critical aspects of change management into bite-sized portions, let’s explore simple tools you can use to build your own change management plan. These tools can be used regardless of the complexity of your project.

Working together in these sessions, we will see that change management doesn’t have to be scary or complicated. It can instead be a short and sweet activity carried out periodically, as and when required. This workshop is a great opportunity to network and to put practical tools into action as you build your own change management plan. In fact, you may even find that you’re having a bit of fun along the way!

From this session attendees will learn tips to build a positive change management culture, access real tools that can be used to manage change in future and build a change management plan from scratch, all in a fun and interactive environment.

The Mouse is to the Computer What AI is to the Mind

Artificial Intelligence is a tool, not a solution. But it can be an amazing tool working for you, working on your processes. It’s not perfect and yes, it makes mistakes. It’s also not very creative… It can’t invent itself out of anything. It needs human knowledge, and it takes work to get it started. But once it runs, you’ll wonder why it wasn’t done earlier… It’s time to start!

Key takeaways:

  • Artificial Intelligence is just a tool, that can be very useful to get some of the repetitive work done
  • It's not about changing "everything" but trying to remove some of the "steps" of the process
  • What could only be done by software developers is now turning into the hands of business users

Innovation & The Future of SAP Supply Chain & Procurement

Join this session to hear from SAP about innovation and the future of SAP Supply Chain & Procurement. You will have the opportunity to ask the experts about where SAP is headed and the future plans for innovation in the Supply Chain & Procurement space.

RPA: Turning Tasks into Repeatable Recipes

“Robotic Process Automation” is the fancy name for old fashioned macros with a bit of intelligence. When some tasks are highly repetitive (for humans) and relatively standardised, instead of changing the system, you just “automate the hands”. In other words, you use an RPA to automate the typing. Let’s see how this works.

Adapting Fiori to Streamline Warehouse Processes

Inventory management is a widely used module in SAP but what happens with this module when Fiori is introduced as the User interface? Using Fiori apps can simplify the most common functions for a Warehouse person’s day to day job and coupled with mobile devices can boost productivity.

In this presentation, we will explore what Fiori apps SAP delivers in Inventory Management as standard and then give you an insight to what is capable with Fiori to build apps that work with any Warehouse process. Attendees will be shown detailed examples of how the different Fiori elements can be used to create user-friendly apps.

Key takeaways:

  • Check SAP standard apps to see if they are fit for purpose
  • Don't be afraid to explore building your own apps
  • Explore all the different Fiori elements and many more!

Maintenance Budgeting and Asset Lifecycle Management – Necessary Evils or a Vault of Untapped Value?

Various inefficiencies negatively impacted the Budget and Planning Process. Budget and Planning weren’t outcome driven and largely dependent on manual interaction. Low data integrity, master data inconsistencies and inconsistent data granularity added to the problem. Data was maintained in spreadsheets that weren’t integrated with the ERP and Mine Technical Systems, limiting cost controls and overall planning capability, resulting in conflicting views. We introduced a planning, forecasting and analysis tool which will enable business to address process inefficiencies and improve data integrity.

To overcome the key business challenges, we:
- Simplified and standardised processes through establishing process ownership
- Introduced processes to measure, manage, and drive forecast accuracy
- Improved business flexibility and responsiveness by putting forecasting at the heart of performance management
- Established a capability to quickly test scenarios and sensitivities
- Focused on volatility and materiality – minimised detail to reduce cycle time and improve relevance
- Enabled capital prioritisation aligned to portfolio objectives and risk appetite
- Implemented a planning, forecasting and analysis tool which will address process inefficiencies, improve data integrity, improve cost controls and improve planning capability.

The Collaborit Asset Cost and Lifecycle Manager enabled us to:
- Use a single source of data for Budget/Forecast determination and tracking of actual expenditure.
- Reduce complexity and effort to compile the Maintenance Budget
- Create collaboration between all budget owners/approvers on one platform
- Improve data integrity and accuracy
- Institutionalise the budget determination logic and methodology
- Underpin budget/forecast results with line item detail to explain/justify cost inclusions
- Timeously respond to budget variance exceptions
- Improve the credibility of the budget process and output

Process improvements and system enablement for the Planning and Budgeting functions is a fundamental building block in moving towards a proactive performance and cost management culture. Select a planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis tool that support and institutionalise the budget and planning process across the organisation. Invest in a solution that provides sufficient flexibility through configuration and parameterisation to support specific business requirements.

Mobility Solution Through SAP

The phenomenon of human nature to err is bound to us as humans eternally and is thus inescapable. However, it is increasingly evident that artificial intelligence always steps in where humans cannot. Although we are programmable to a certain degree, we are not reliable at executing that programme and it is evident that we are not readily configurable and calibratable. To guarantee effectiveness of our assets we rely on compliance to asset management principles. Mobility solutions came in to bridge the reliability, configurability and calibratable gap between the human and machine. This session will dive into Sappi’s mobility solution through SAP and look into their planning, execution and learnings from the process.

Welcome to the World of Risk, Failure Modes and Reliability

Enterprise Asset Management - Innovative Standard SAP Solutions for the FMCG Industry

The biggest problem that I've encountered within the Enterprise Asset Management area within the industry is that there's a big underappreciation for data, not understanding the impact thereof and also the lack of knowledge of just how effective standard SAP can be. With simple configuration, naming conventions, guidelines and administrative checks, the problem-solving capabilities as well as future possibilities with regards to planning, reporting and alignment are endless. Combine this with everyday reporting tools such as Excel, can be massively beneficial when setup correctly. Not all companies have the budget or skills to make use of additional software. This presentation is aimed towards helping companies achieve maximum benefit from their already made investments.

At KWV our resources have been very limited. As with most companies, the plant maintenance side of business are more than likely seen as a debit on budget. By utilising standard SAP and innovative data, we can begin to see a substantial amount of information that leads to better planning of people, work and of course budgets. Work is done more effective, planning of future job cards are more evenly spaced, data integrity is continuously monitored and therefore history begins to build up within the system. Not only will period closures run much smoother, but by setting non-conformance benchmarks, the processes cleans itself up as time progresses. As soon as information or data, becomes useful, it grabs the attention of the financial sector within your company. Now data becomes tangible and useful.

Key takeaways:
- Fully understand the tools that you have at your disposal
- How data can be managed effectively and the impact thereof

In this session, we discuss the various avenues and teams at SAP that exist to help customers and partners understand their options to become more innovative by leveraging people, ideas and other resources and directing them at a particular challenge.

Key takeaways:
- SAP is more than a solutions company but also a strategic innovation partner
- There is a depth of expertise in innovation strategy, organisational behaviour advisory, management consulting and related disciplines at SAP
- There is a program at SAP specific to me that I can adopt to help my company become more innovative.
